INTRODUCTION
(22 Dec 1997)
During this year and a half that the NYC Skyscrapers site has been
online, I have
received questions on New York skyscrapers that I personally haven't been able to find
answers to, or that would anyway require a more thorough study and expertise on the
matter. As I, furthermore, live in Europe, I have often been forced to reply just with
a "dunno".
So, I have finally conceived this discussion forum "to help people to help
themselves", as Eric "McCartney" Idle joked in the film The Rutles [Or rather, 'twas Neil "Lennon" Innes...].
The idea is simply that a person who wants to know something more on an issue
related to New York's skyscrapers fills the submission
form, (Wait for it! Before you proceed, you'd better check the
threads to see if the question has been already
asked/answered... [11 Dec 2004: now also the site search engine]) The inquiry later appears in the forum -- the submission is not
automatic, I have to personally place the messages to the forum as the submission
is not done by automatic scripts.
Any person willing to comment or answer to a message on the forum can do so by first
taking down the message ID of the particular message he/she wants to send followup
to, and then using the followup form to comment.
For example, if the message ID next to the message you want to comment on is, say,
"2.1", then enter that number to the followup form. This helps me to place the message
to the correct place in the discussion threads. I'll also
personally try to scribble to the forum the best I can...
If your browser doesn't support forms, send e-mail to
[email protected].
If submitting a followup, remember to give the ID of the message
you comment on.
You can still use the guestbook for greetings,
commentaries etc. and the feedback form or
e-mail for more personal matters (this may be also
the preferred method for direct criticism ;^) and new info submissions).
Remember to note if you want your inquiries sent through feedback/e-mail not
published in the Skyscraper Forum.
