Becca (1976)

This Wendy Kesselman -produced play was Trini's professional acting debut at the age of nine.


Runaways (1978), Melinda
(Elizabeth Swados) available as a recording

Elizabeth Swados's "singlehandedly" laboured youth story based on actual city children writings, with also many of the twenty performer cast being actual runaway kids. A musical about kids alienated from the surrounding society. Trini had her first Broadway leading role in this Joseph Papp production. First shown at Papp's Public/Cabaret Theatre (March 9, 1978 on, 76 performances), Broadway première at the Plymouth Theatre on May 13, where it ran for 24 weeks, until 31 December. Tony nominated on five categories.


I Love You, I Love You Not, Daisy

A story about the friendship of a city teenager and her grandmother, a Holocaust survivor living in the countryside. Trini starred as Daisy, in the role performed in the 1996 feature film by fellow actress from Little Women, Claire Danes.

Levin (1983), Kitty
(Arthur Masella)

A production for Playwrights' Forum, this play was based on Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina, as well as on writer's own family life by alternating in its proceedings between these two, the reality and literal fiction. Named after one of the principal characters in the book, the play's fictional side also focuses on Levin (John Glover). Trini plays the book character Kitty. Joanna Merlin (from the Afterschool Special Starstruck) had a triple role, split between the novel and reality sides of the play. Other cast included Neil Vipond (Tolstoy), Maria Norman (Sonja) and Edmund Lyndeck.


Yours, Anne (1985), Anne Frank

An Off-Broadway production based on the Dutch Jew Anne Frank's world-famous diary which she kept while hiding during nazi occupation. This short-lived revival of the 1955 play was performed at Playhouse 91 on New York's Upper East Side with its première on October 13, 1985 (57 performances). Trini had the leading role as Anne Frank, and other roles were played by Betty Aberin, David Cady, Merwin Goldsmith, George Guidall, Hal Robinson, Ann Talman and Dana Zeller-Alexis.

Godspell (1988), lead on "By My Side"
(Don Scardino)

This biblical stage piece by Stephen Schwartz is a light-hearted dramatization of Matthew's Gospel from Jesus' baptism to his crucifixion. An Off-Broadway revival at the Lamb's Theater which featured, along with Trini, Anne Marie Bobby, Mia Korf, Laura Dean, Harold Perrineau and Eddie Korbich.
