Does anyone know what the top of the City Bank Farmers Trust Building [link] would have looked like if it had been built?
Yes, but I must search for the picture. When I find it I will send it to the form. The top was angled as in a pyramid and ended on a large globe on the top. Its original height was to be near 1000'. The building was built for the predecessor of Citicorp and the canadian Bank of Commerce. The Architectural Forum of July 1931 has an excellent article on design of the building but mentions nothing about the "downsizing"
Rejoice, as my millennium (did I spell it right) gift to the skyscraper forum, and after a thorough search of my attic, I am submitting a rendering, done in that wonderful Hugh Ferris(esque) style of the 1920's, of the original City Bank Farmers Trust top.
