I've always been fasinated with the NYC skyline and this site gives names to those
images. This is definitely a web site I'll keep coming back to. Maybe I missed it
but, is there a page with stats and info on the buildings such as height in desceding
order or age, the oldest to most current?

I LOVE SKYSCRAPERS! So much so that I am sometimes referred to as "towerchick". I have so many favorites that there are too many to list, but here are some- First Bank Tower-toronto, Both First interstate towers- los angeles Gas company tower, city hall-los angeles World trade center, new york. I have many other favorites from all over the world, and these are only a few.
My hometown, Halifax has some nice buildings. Not too large, but nice looking! I intend to visit all my favorite buildings someday, as well as write a book about all of them. I'll let you all know when I get my own web page.

You will probably find this on your E-Mail too.
The City Bank Farmers Trust Building was designed to be the World's tallest Building in 1929. It was "circumsized" when the econmomic realities of the depression became known. The angular top, part of the original design, was removed by Cross & Cross and replaced with the setback top we see today.
If you are going to give building heights in meters, please include feet also for those of us that do not like the "politically correct' metric system. Like the thumbnail photos of the buildings.
How about the Fred French Building in your Art Deco section?
Yes, I am going to give the heights in meters also in the future -- and at
the moment don't even consider adding the heights in feet (naughty me...), so this is
a good opportunity to start 'liking' the metric measures... ;^)
But thanx for info again, anyway. ED.

I am sitting inside a New York building with a view of the Twin Towers and even though my view is better than yours, appreciate the fact that the world can see my New York. I thorougly enjoyed the pictures which I downloaded and I will use the copies as stationery to correspond with my family in South America. I suggest that you also do a " Museums " tour; for example the Metropolitan museum and the Guggenheim are breathtaking.
Thank you for responding to that wonderful woman form Dallas Texas about our crime rate. I will not validate hear ignorance of the circumstances by responding in kind. New york New York, so nice they named it twice.

As you view lower Manhattan's "skyscape," you'll notice the incredible blending of 5 venerable spire & cathedral-topped towers - American International Building, 40 Wall (Trump building), Farmers & Merchants Building, and One Wall (formerly Irving Trust, now BNY), and the Woolworth, with several rectangular contemporary towers of Chase Manhattan Plaza, 140 Broadway, the Marine Midland Building, and New York Plaza, and of course the WTC...It is this fantastic combination of so many skyscrapers which makes New York, now and always, the preeminent world city for architecture. And this isn't even mentioning....Midtown!!!

New York is pretty cool except for the fact that people are
not that nice to you while you are walking down the streets.
Also the crime is out of control! I know that I live in Dallas
where there is alot of crime, but it is nothing like New York.
You know you have alot of crime when the first 45 minutes of the
news is about who killed who!
Exaggerations, but never mind... ED.

I'm taking an art class right now and while studying architecture
I asked my teacher if he had ever heard of the skyscraper built
above a church. He hadn't and I couln't remember the exact
name of the building or where it was so I came on the Web looking
for it. It took a lot of searching, so I'm glad you had it
on your page. I first heard of the building on a special on the
Discovery channel.

Yaay New York. I have been a New York nut for many years now. In 1990 I began
working on a 3D Computer model of Midtown Manhattan. The information I have collected
since then is extensive. Books, photos and the heights of 451 buildings from the WTC all
the way down to the 198 foot tall 30 E42nd Street. This list however has gaps in it and I
am always looking for ways to update or expand it. I'm also always on the lookout for new
means of gathering info to continue updating my model. If you know of any
avenues to gathering building plans, elevations or photos I would love to hear from you.
I think your Web site is terrific and I would love to share some of the information of
from my collection with you. I hope to have a Web site soon and to include
renderings and animations of my model to share with all the skyscraper and
New York nuts out there. New York may not have the tallest buildings in the world
anymore but it has by far the most and the coolest. Please write back
for any reason! I'll be back to absorb more of your site later

I think these pages are VERY good, just what I have been
looking for. I am currntly making a list over the tallest
buildings in the world, and found a lot of interesting information
here. However, I whish that stories/height were included on
the buildings. If anyone has information about the buildings
without height or number of stories...feel free to mail them
to me...and visit my ranking list....yet to be complete..goto my
linkpage...from my homepage.
