The Lescaze House (1934) at 211 E 48th Street was designed
by Swiss architect William Lescaze as a residence and studio
for himself. The building's facade contrasts severely with the
neighbouring buildings. This is one of the few examples of
pure-bred European Functionalism in New York City.
