I'm going to be building a small 'model' of part of a skyscraper to do
some tests on it for a science project, but I'm having trouble finding
much information at all on how to do this.
What material would it be made out of, and how would the girders, or
whatever is used, be connected?

I assume that the model will be a skeleton frame for structural
strength study. In that case the nature of the joints would of course
be important. Ready-made structural bars with adapted joints like
Meccanos or even technical Legos would be my first recommendation,
if price is no consideration. Otherwise, you'd have to make sure
that all the "home-made" joints are strong and rigid enough to keep
the frame standing under at least moderate loading or shaking. ED
